Pin Grading Scale Info
How do you grade pins?
We inspect every pin at arm's length and grade them accordingly:
• Standard
These are the products considered best of the batch. We refrain from calling these perfect due to the handmade nature of how enamel pins are made (see video examples below). For this reason, we do not offer "collector's grade" level of perfection, but if there are any flaws, they would be really light.
Note: Preorders will always be prioritized to get Standard Grade pins first. If not enough are available, those with preorders will be contacted for best solutions that can be offered.
Example of pin production:
• B-grade/Seconds
These have more noticeable, but still minor imperfections that aren’t visible from a distance. As such, they make a great option for collectors with a budget in mind! Types of flaws include, but are not limited to: underfill visible at face value, dots, minor miscolour, stray glitter, chipped plating, etc.
Examples:
Examples provided are only a small sample of possible flaws present, but are all based on how obviously noticeable they are at first glance. Feel free to contact us if you want more photographic examples specific to the product you're interested in.
• C-grade / Unsellables
These are pins with more significant flaws such as colour spills, broken posts, major sections with miscolouring, etc. We do not normally sell these at all as I would never dare to want to sell them under normal circumstances, but if you would still like to inquire about it, feel free to contact us. However, I cannot guarantee any will be available.
